This week marks our 16 week countdown to our departure date and we have certainly been busy planning. Getting our bodies ready for this climb, purchasing and testing out the proper gear needed for the climb, and planning events that will help us raise money for Mom2Mom Africa have all been high on our priority list.
We have moved on from our sweet December indulgences and have been busy organizing our nutritional needs. I have prepared my weekly meal plan which I feel plays a huge role for me in getting prepared for the climb. It has been carefully planned in order to encompass the nutritional suggestions provided by our trekking company. For interest sake, I have included it in the Nutrition section. I will be updating it on a weekly basis over the next 16 weeks. Week 1 has been posted so you can check it out.
After taking inventory of what we have and what we need, Joanne and I have been slowly collecting our gear over the last few months. Everlasting Tanzania has provided us with a list of essentials that we will need to tackle the mountain. You can find information on the gear that we will be using, how it is performing and other tidbits of info when you click on the 'Gear' section listed under 'Getting Prepared'.
Earlier this week, Joanne and I met at Starbucks to discuss our fundraising events that will be taking place over the next couple months. We will be announcing them soon so be prepared to mark them in your calendar! For more information on those check out our Events/Fundraising page that will be updated soon.
We have met with Baden Public School and are super excited to include the children on our adventure as we share with them our journey to Mount Kilimanjaro.
I have been steadily learning how to use this site so that we can share our experiences with you. Your involvement, support and feedback mean so much to us as we set out on this adventure. We want you, your family and our whole community to be a part of this journey. Please join us as we reach for the summit!
